Secret Shopper: Ever want to get paid to shop, dine and travel? Secret shopper programs allow you to just that. In exchange for a thorough review of the business as an undercover shopper, you will usually be reimbursed for a certain amount of your purchase plus a fee for the survey you complete for them. For example, national pizza chains will ask you to order a specific pizza. Your assignment may be to monitor the delivery time, make sure the vehicle has the signage on top, that the food arrived warm and that it was prepared correctly. You may even be asked to take photos of the pizza. In exchange, the company reimburses you for the cost of the pizza and pays you a couple bucks extra for your time. The goal of these secret shopper missions is to assess the quality of the customer service and product. It is a valuable research tool for many companies. If you’re good at working the assignments, you can make up to $25 to $50 an hour for 2 to 4 hours of work.

Be aware that there are a lot of sites on the Internet that are secret shopper scams. These will charge you $20 to $40 to access their database of assignments, which are often out of date or downright bogus. Be wary if the site doesn’t offer refunds, has non-working links or phone numbers or non-working pages.

One of the most reputable companies out there is My Shopping Jobs.
